From April 2011 the Municipality of Aradippou, in collaboration with the Board of Volunteers, Larnaca and the District Welfare Office, launched the program “Community Service without remuneration”.

Community Service is a punishment imposed by the Cyprus Court, usually with regard to young offenders and for non-serious offences and is instead of a fine or prison sentence.

Those sentenced to Community Service carry on working as normal to meet their family obligations while at the same time serve the community for the number of hours imposed by the court and determined by the Welfare Officer. This program benefits both offenders, who avoid a prison sentence or fine as well as the Municipality who has work carried out without paying a salary.
