Aradippou Municipality signed the Isle-Pact in a special ceremony held at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels on 12 April 2011.
The Isle-Pact is a binding agreement through which the island authorities will have a political obligation to help achieve the growth and sustainable energy targets that the EU has set for 2020.
Isle-Pact aims at the development of island energy action plans in order to achieve or surpass the target of reducing the CO2emissions by 20% until 2020.
Duration of this project will be 30 months with official start on 1 February 2011 and concluding on 31 July 2012.
The Coordinator of the project is Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (CnES), the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
The project is co-financed by the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission.
