In a very moving and ceremonious affair, 120 graduating students were awarded their well-earned undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in all courses. The Alexander College 22nd annual graduation ceremony took place on the third evening of July at ‘Ktima Mackenzy’ in Larnaca in front of over 900 friends, family members and various honoured guests.
Leading up to the award presentation the College Principal, Mr. Andy Loppas commenced with his opening speech setting a positive and encouraging tone. Further addresses were made by several guest speakers including the Ministry of Education and Culture representative: Mr. Panikos Georgoudes, the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of the West of England: Mr Alex Gilkison and the Mayors of both Larnaca and Aradippou: Mr. Andreas Louroutziates and Mr. Evangelos Evangelides respectively.
Mayor Evengelides commended the college’s involvement in organized charity events and financial contributions to the Larnaca community while Mayor Louroutziates covered the high standard of education and the new modern college premises and closed with sincere wishes to the graduates of 2013 for a successful future.
The award ceremony was concluded with the presentation of the Alexander College Student of the Year Awards - a prestigious award given to one graduating student of each course. This was then followed by the opening of the annual Final Show, an Art and Design exhibition displaying students work from all creative courses and stages.
