In a modest ceremony with a highly emotionally charged atmosphere, Aradippou Municipality organized the unveiling of the bust of the hero Kyriakos Kallikas Piripitsis, who was killed in Kazafani, during the Turkish invasion of 1974.
During the event, a memorial service and a poem recited by Mr. Costas Katsonis took place, speeches were delivered by the Mayor of Aradippou and Christos Piripitsis and George Parperis, relatives of the hero. The unveiling ceremony was officiated by Mayor Aradippou in the presence of parliamentarians, officials of the National Guard and police and crowds. The ceremony ended with the laying of wreaths, a minute's silence and the national anthem.
In his speech, the Mayor praised the morality and virtue of a hero and emphasized that from now the heroe's presence and his lofty gaze will forever recall the debt and historical responsibility of all towards our Country.
